Über Onoma

Onoma, dessen Titel vom griechischen Wort für „Name“ stammt, ist das offizielle, peer-reviewte Jahrbuch von ICOS (International Council of Onomastic Sciences). Es erscheint jährlich. Gegründet im Jahr 1950, ist Onoma (ISSN: 0078-463X; e-ISSN: 1783-1644) die älteste Fachzeitschrift auf dem Gebiet der Onomastik und nimmt eine zentrale Stellung innerhalb der Disziplin ein. Bis Band 32 (1995) bestand der Inhalt hauptsächlich aus aktuellen internationalen onomastischen Bibliografien. Seitdem lädt Onoma zur Einreichung thematischer Forschungsberichte sowie von Beiträgen und Rezensionen mit allgemeinem, theoretischem oder historischem Interesse ein, die alle Bereiche der wissenschaftlichen Namensforschung betreffen. Die Zeitschrift wird von und im Namen des International Council of Onomastic Sciences (ICOS) herausgegeben, der weltweit umfassendsten Organisation im Bereich der Namenforschung. Eine Mitgliedschaft bei ICOS ist für Autorinnen und Autoren, die in Onoma veröffentlichen möchten, nicht erforderlich. Eingereichte Beiträge können auf Englisch, Französisch oder Deutsch verfasst sein und durchlaufen ein doppelt-blindes Peer-Review-Verfahren nach höchsten internationalen Standards.
