Trends in Toponymy 6 will take place at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg from October 7th to 10th 2013. As the name suggests, the conference is dedicated to both new approaches in toponomastic studies and research on current toponomastic phenomena. The main aim of the conference is the discussion and interdisciplinary exchange about current findings, theoretical innovations and work in progress.

Postgraduate Workshop, Glasgow, 4–5 April 2013

An International Workshop for Postgraduate Students of Onomastics will be held at the University of Glasgow from 4–5 April 2013, prior to the annual Weekend Conference of the Society for Name Studies in Britain and Ireland (SNSBI). The schedule is as follows:

Thursday 4 April

14.00-16.30: Visit to Special Collections and Maps Department, Glasgow University Library
16.30-18.00: Networking and discussion of own research

Early bird registration deadline approaching

The fourth Names in the Economy symposium will be held at the University of Turku in 14 – 16 June 2012. We kindly remind that the registration to the symposium is under way. Please, note that registering by 15 April 2012 you will take advantage of the lower registration fee. More information on the registration page.

To ICOS student members travelling from abroad who are attending the 24th ICOS Congress in Barcelona

The ICOS Board has decided to subsidize parts of your travel costs for attending the Congress. Please contact the Treasurer, Dr. Katharina Leibring, during the Congress (or, after the Congress by email to treasurer@icosweb.net, giving proof of your Congress attendance) to submit your details about how this grant (30 Euros) can be paid out to you. The number of grants is limited, and they will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. No grants will be paid out before Sep. 9th (see below).

The 24th ICOS Congress in Barcelona – a good place to become an ICOS member

Do you wish to join ICOS as a new member, or have you forgotten to renew your subscription? The annual fee is 20 euros (10 euros if you are a student) which includes ICOS’ annual yearbook ONOMA.

If you are participating in the 24th ICOS Congress in Barcelona, you will have the chance to join or to renew your subscription. For those who wish to participate in the ICOS General Assembly on Thursday Sep. 8th at 18.30, the subscription for 2011 must be paid not later than Sep. 6th.
