Travel bursary for students attending ICOS XXV

ICOS will offer a travel bursary of 30 euros to every full-time student attending the 2014 Congress from outside Scotland. This will be paid in cash by the ICOS Treasurer, Staffan Nyström, during the Congress itself.

There will also be a cash prize of 100 euros for the best poster.

Registration for the Congress is open until the end of July, via the Congress website.

Call for Themes and Guest Editors: ONOMA 50 & 51

As the journal of the International Council of Onomastic Sciences, Onoma aims at publishing high-quality papers on all aspects of onomastics. Each yearly volume has a section whose goal is to focus on a particular theme and a non-themed section whose focus is on onomastics in general.

Trends in Toponymy 6

Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg
Trends in Toponymy 6 will take place at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg from October 7th to 10th 2013. As the name suggests, the conference is dedicated to both new approaches in toponomastic studies and research on current toponomastic phenomena. The main aim of the conference is the discussion and interdisciplinary exchange about current findings, theoretical innovations and work in progress.

Postgraduate Workshop, Glasgow, 4–5 April 2013

An International Workshop for Postgraduate Students of Onomastics will be held at the University of Glasgow from 4–5 April 2013, prior to the annual Weekend Conference of the Society for Name Studies in Britain and Ireland (SNSBI). The schedule is as follows:

Thursday 4 April

14.00-16.30: Visit to Special Collections and Maps Department, Glasgow University Library
16.30-18.00: Networking and discussion of own research
19:00: Dinner
